Stories of Peace – Conclusion

100 Years of Peace

The year 2023, or rather 2623, marked a major milestone in the history of Star Atlas! That year, the Galia Expanse celebrated 100 years of peace between the three major factions, the MUD, the ONI, and the Ustur.

You can read the official address by Vaor Scarka (Ruling Secretary of the Council of Peace) to the citizens of those factions here.

To celebrate this anniversary, we organized a short story writing competition in December, themed the fruits of this century of peace, nicely in line with the spirit of Christmas.

The objective was to write a story that would celebrate this peace. It could be an anecdote of something that could only have happened due to the peace treaty.

A total of 12 stories were submitted, and members of the Star Atlas team, under the leadership of the chief Noot, José (aka ZeSKK) himself, spent the last few weeks reviewing each and every one of them!

And they have come to a conclusion!

I was baffled by the Star Atlas community’s passion and writing skills! It feels reassuring to have so many talents dreaming and writing their own stories in Galia Expanse. It won’t be long before they can manifest them in reality as well.

Thanks

We want to thank José and his team for all of their great work on directing and writing the lore of Stars Atlas! And all the more for reading through all the stories and then having several sleepless nights trying to figure out the winners. The fact that we have 2 honorable mentions shows that this was a tight race!

We also want to thank the team for kindly offering some Fimbul Lowbies as prizes! You guys rock!

Last but not least, we want to thank all the participants for sitting down and writing amazing fan fiction in the setting of the Galia Expanse! Thanks for giving us wonderful tales to read over the Christmas holidays!

If you want to read these stories for yourself, then you can! We’ve compiled all 12 stories for you!

The team is expanding the Nemesis Engine, reworking Council Rank progression, and weighing the risks and rewards of Claim Stakes. Beyond C4, Chris published his farewell to Star Atlas, UE5 development is moving forward on version 5.8, and PIP-36 passed after a remarkable late reversal in support.

Weekly Star Atlas Newsletter #249

Last week, the team put real numbers on the planned Council Rank progression for mainnet. The first levels should come quickly, while reaching the top could take anywhere from six months to well over a year, depending on how actively you play. Beyond C4, on a more somber note, Chris, VP of Game Economy, resigned from ATMTA after several years of shaping the game’s economy. Finally, PIP-36 saw a major swing in support as voting enters its final days.

Weekly Star Atlas Newsletter #248

Last week brought a substantial rethink of Claim Stakes and Starbase capture in SAGE C4. With very few players engaging with Claim Stakes, the team is working on a much more guided onboarding flow, dramatically lower operating costs, and a slower, lower-maintenance gameplay loop. Starbase capture is being simplified and slowed down as well. Meanwhile, the DAO opened voting on a proposal to fund a new public dashboard.
